Born and raised in Mauritius, Grace has always been passionate about food. She moved to Melbourne to study hospitality management and was lucky enough to learn more about nutrition and wellness, and how to live a healthy lifestyle. She began Breakinspiration with the goal of starting each day with a delicious and nutritious meal, and to inspire people to live a healthy, positive and most importantly, happy life!

Tell us a bit about yourself!
I was born and raised in beautiful Mauritius and moved to Australia at 18 to study. I then became more aware of the healthy lifestyle. I love food in general, and never deprive myself if I feel like something ‘naughty’. I come from a hospitality background and worked at 3 hats restaurants and it was real fun, but I am hoping to start my own family soon, so I am now still working in the events industry but in the corporate world and I am absolutely loving life at the moment.
When did you start food blogging on Instagram and what inspired you to start?
I started Breakinspiration in July 2016. I wanted to share my passion for food but also share positive and uplifting quotes to help other people, and to remind them that life is not that bad and that there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
You’re known for writing handwritten inspirational quotes on coffee cups in your photos, tell us about how this started and where you source your inspiration for your quotes?
In 2016, I started hand-writing different quotes (mostly found on Instagram or some in that tiny, tiny head of mine) on the coffee cups for my husband’s café. I always loved social media, so I started creating healthy breakfasts along with those hand-written coffee cups.

What is your favourite quote? And what has been the most popular quote with your audience?
“Start each day with a grateful heart.” This past year, I have realised how gratitude is so important and how it can change the way you act or react towards other people or to unexpected situations and how things can change drastically (in a positive way). I find my audience like quotes that they can relate to, therefore there isn’t one most popular but rather the timing of when I post the quote and what is happening in their life at that moment.
What are some things you like to do in your spare time?
I love spending time with my family and friends, whether it is around food or exploring Melbourne together. I love travelling, one of my goals is to visit a new destination yearly. I also love pilates, and keeping fit in general.

If you had to live off either sweet or savory foods for the rest of your life, what would you pick?
2 years ago I would probably say sweet (I have a sweet tooth) but since I have started living more of a ‘healthy lifestyle’, I find I go more for savoury foods and enjoy the sweetness from fruits. But don’t get me wrong, I would not say no to dessert 😉

You serve up some pretty amazing dishes in our Coconut Bowls! What has been your favorite so far?
Ah, there have been so many! I would say smoothie bowls.
What is your favourite thing about your Coconut Bowls?
Not only are they eco-friendly, but it is a great way to portion control as it is not too big or small.
We are so excited to have one of your recipes included in our cookbook ‘Vegan Bowls’. Tell us about the recipe you chose and what it means for you to be apart of the book?
I chose vegan fried rice because it is so versatile and you can literally add any kind of veggies. It is also quick to make and is always a crowd pleaser. You can have it on its own or I like to have mine with a tomato salsa (diced fresh tomatoes, coriander, red onions, salt and pepper). I am so grateful to be part of this cookbook and to be featured alongside so many other role models and inspirations, it means the world
